This small painting was my response to to the enormous events of 09/11/01. It uses torn fragments of the FT, layers of translucent tissue paper, strips of cloth bandaged across the image, layered on top of each other.

Ternand, the medieval village perched on a hilltop in the South of the Beaujolais was one of the fortified villages that protected the approaches to Lyon. It has a beautiful communal gallery space that I was invited to exhibit in a way back. I painted this watercolour looking out the window up towards the neighbouring village of Oingt, perched on the other side of the valley.
